ELIGIBILITY FOR MEMBERSHIP

  • Membership to the Professional Body is voluntary.
  • Prospective members shall be required to apply for membership by completing the appropriate membership application form and paying the required fee.
  • Administrator would be required to present the prospective member to the Membership Committee.
  • Confirmation of membership shall be communicated once the member has been approved by the Membership Committee.
  • An applicant shall be expected to subscribe to the Professional Body’s Constitution and to its Code of Conduct and rules & regulations, upon acceptance of membership.

DUTIES OF MEMBERS

  • Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements shall be mandatory.
  • Members shall comply with the Code of Conduct and shall be expected to conform to the Constitution of the Professional Body.
  • Members are committed to the payment of a membership fee.
  • It is envisaged that the members shall uphold the vision and mission of the Professional Body as stipulated in this document.
  • It is expected from members to treat one another with respect, to act ethically and to be professional in whatever Hospitality & Tourism service is performed.

RIGHTS OF MEMBERS

Paid up members have the right to:

    • Participate in general meetings,
    • Vote on matters where member’s input is required, as proposed by the Board,
    • Propose system modifications and to contribute positively to the improvement of the professional designation scheme.
    • Report the following without the fear of retribution:
      • Unsafe operating practices
      • Raise complaints against system and / service providers
      • Appeal against decisions made

TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP

  • Membership expires if it is not renewed annually, or alternatively, when a member resigns of his / her own free will. Written notification to the Board is necessary to leave the Professional Body, one month before the cycle of the current year.
  • The Member’s Designation is only valid for the period of affiliation.
  • The Professional Body, through the Membership Committee, may suspend, take disciplinary action, or terminate a member’s membership. The termination of membership occurs when:
    • Member’s actions are found, through an impartial disciplinary process, to be in violation of the Code of Conduct or contravening the Constitution of the Professional Body.
    • A member refrains from paying annual membership fee;
    • A member is removed from an office of trust by a court of law or is convicted of an offence for which the sentence is imprisonment without the option of a fine.
