Conservation

Conservation is about protecting endangered plants and animals, and about transforming the world into a better, cleaner and more sustainable place to live in. It is about conserving and protecting the planet’s resources to ensure that future generations can experience and enjoy nature. In the conservation sector you’ll work to protect, manage and enhance the local environment. This can include grassland, woodland, forests, coastal areas, moorland, mountains and rivers.

The conservation industry is diverse. It includes hunting & trapping, and in activities of conservation bodies, game parks, reserves, wild life parks, zoological establishments, botanical gardens and in wildlife conservation.

GDP contribution

South Africa is the third most biologically diverse country in the world, and therefore has one of the larg­est natural capital assets. This biodiversity is not only economically viable to the economic wellbeing of the country but can be used as a vehicle for social upliftment.
